2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics

By Mike Martin

The 2010 Winter Olympics logo was officially unfurled on 23rd April in the year of 2005. This 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics has been named after Illanaaq the Inukshuk. Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics which is officially recognized to be the XXI Olympic Winter Games will be commenced from 12 February and the game will continue till 28th February 2010 in Vancouver. VANOC is authorized to organize the Olympics games. Frankly speaking, 2010 Winter Olympics will be held in Canada and it is considered to be the third Winter Olympics Game.

The theme of the logo of Vancouver Winter Olympics Games has derived from the concept of Inukshuk which was constructed for the Northwest Territories Pavilion and it has been given to the Vancouver city after the completion of the game at Expo 86. This place is now utilized to be a landmark lying on the English Bay. The mascot of the Vancouver Winter Olympics games was launched on 27th November in 2007. However at the time of the unveiling of the mascot, there were many enthusiasts who took strong exception to the design of the mascots which showcased Vancouver city as the place for the small number of population. However the mascots of this Vancouver Winter Olympics represented conventional First Nation animals and this mascots also cover Miga, Quatchi, Sumi including Mumuk.

Mumuk is a type of Vancouver Island rodent and this mascot has not been declared as the officially recognized mascot but Mumuk has been selected for the sidekick or the associated mascot with the main logo. It has been officially declared that 86 winter games in total will be held in 2010 Olympic game. Every event will be much more glamorous. There will be Alpine skiing, bobsled, ice hockey, snowboarding and many more sports events. People will get enamored when they will observe the torch relay. It is very interesting event. The first torch relay was conducted in Greece where the first Olympic was held a long way back to several thousands of years ago.
